He had left his home at 7 and went to live in the jungle. At age of 12, he underwent spiritual experience and became a follower of the goddess Amba.
After worshipping Amba he started getting ready as a female devotee of Amba to wear red saree flowers, jewelry, and many more to make goddess amba happy and like this, he got the name of chunari wala Mataji.
He believes that the goddess provided him with water dropped down through a hole in his plate which helped him to leave without food and water. He is mainly in the media spotlight because of leaving without food and water for so many years.
